How To Forum

Tony Budak's picture

I am still learning my way around this site. Well, if this is a established forum, Communicate or Die-Planning, where are the earlier posted discussions? Could this be the first posting?

Would someone care to define the planning objective?

Cheers,
Tony

You are the first!

Yes, you are the first to post in this topic.

If you have an idea for a plan, just post a new topic under in the "Planning" category. It's a good time to start because right now the only plan is to get one! :)

More clarification

I just realized my response might be a little confusing.

To clarify, you are the first to post in this topic "How To Forum", not the first to post in the the category called "Planning". To see all the topics in the category "Planning," go to http://www.communicateordie.com/forum/2.

More Clarification

Yep,This does get confusing. May I suggest that you use another font color to deferenciate the forum path of titles or sub-topics all the way to the topic and thread title name. If that doesn't appeal to you try coloring the box that contains the forum paths etc. I am not sure how this would work out as colors can be problematic to work with.

While we are at it, and BTW I hope that my junping in is received as intended, that is with respect, this bottom left corner "Labor organization blogs" is not in line with the purpose of the site. What I am getting at is that there is to my eye so very much busyness around the site pages that removing this and even a bit more cleaning up seems a good plan. Comments Please?

You mentioned elsewhere that you did not know of Vbullitine, and I agree that we should encourage open source like PHP. If you look at some of these applications they seem to be easier to navigate around in. I use one myself, and I think it may help us to see an excellent tech use of the bb fourm, please look at http://www.aota.net/forums/
This forum is all very self explanitory and seems a model to emulate for our issues. Any comments please?

Cheers,
Tony

Outreach and Marketing

Hmm, I am not real enthusiastic about plans and meetings, but never the less they can be helpful. One planning aid would be to list and follow-up with labor and technical sources requesting that they join this effort and help to refine it.

So Steve, I suspect that you'd agree, now where and how would you impliment that idea on this site? Or do you think it should be left to the CoD subscribers to follow-up on there own initive?

I want to mention that I believe that Shostak founded a E-mail list of labor union web masters, which seems as good a place as any to outreach for help with CoD. Shouldn't he be asked?

Cheers,
Tony

PS BTW, Is there a Spelling Checker in this site set-up?

Excellent ideas

I have started a new topic called "Marketing and Outreach" at http://www.communicateordie.com/forum/45. We can use that space to discuss the ideas you have brought up here.

Thank you very much for your input. I can't stress enough how important it is. Because that's how this community will get built.
