Anybody using Organic Groups?

I'm looking for info, thoughts on using the Organic Groups modules in Drupal -- has anyone used them? Or decided not to for specific reasons?

yea
I've used them in a couple of projects. OG is a pretty interesting module, and it can do a lot of things well, but I do have some complaints:
- The permissions are a little specialized, and it's not easy to override them
- It adds a lot of UI elements that can be confusing for users, and they're not very customizable
- The vocabulary is a little inconsistent (especially "managers" and "admins", as compared to the Drupal admin)
- At least for Drupal 5, your OG content types home page has to be a view, which is sort of annoying.
All that being said, though, it's a nice way to partition your site for working groups, and once you get used to using and tweaking it, it can be quite handy.
Yes, we use organic groups extensively
It's written by one of Drupal's top programmers, Moshe Weitzman. I have not used the most recent version of it but the older version has given me no problems and I recommend it. It gives you lots of options for configuring how people join groups (open, by request, invite only). The idea behind it is that it is kind of a clone of google groups. I can't make any specific recommendations, though, until I know that you are trying to do with it.
